Itinerary

Choose your ride for a day through Iceland’s legendary Golden Circle. Go off the beaten path in a super jeep, built for an adventurous, small-group experience with a fun edge on rugged terrain. Or, if you prefer a classic journey, join a small group in a minibus for an easygoing drive.

Along the way, you’ll get up close to Iceland’s big hitters—Gullfoss waterfall, erupting geysers, and the historic grounds of Thingvellir National Park. At last, you’ll finish the day with something remarkable: a snowmobile ride across Langjökull Glacier.

People walking in Thingvellir national park

The first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site rich in Icelandic history and dramatic landscapes. This is where Iceland’s first parliament, the Alþingi, was founded in 930 AD—a site with roots as deep as the volcanic rock beneath it. Þingvellir is more than history, though. Picture mossy fields, waterfalls tumbling into clear pools, and a place where you can walk between tectonic plates. It’s one of the few spots on the planet where you can feel the Earth’s crust literally pulling apart beneath your feet.

Geysir Strokkur aerial view in winter

The adventure heats up as you reach the Geysir geothermal area, where the Earth practically breathes beneath your feet. Clouds of steam swirl, and the ground simmers and hisses around you, creating an atmosphere that feels straight out of another world. Every few minutes, the ground rumbles, and then a powerful jet of boiling water shoots high into the sky as the Strokkur geysir erupt up to 25 m (82 ft) before your eyes.

Afterwards, you can take a break at the Geysir area, where you can buy some lunch, or eat whatever you have packed.

The journey presses on to Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier, where the adventure shifts into high gear. After a scenic drive to the glacier camp, your guide suits you up and preps you for a thrilling snowmobile ride. Out on the open ice, you’ll follow your guide across Langjökull’s expansive, frozen landscape, with its sweeping views and pure glacier air.

The sheer size of the glacier and the thrill of speeding over its icy surface make for an experience like no other.

Rainbow over Gullfoss waterfall in Iceland

Continuing on through the untamed roads of Iceland’s interior, you’ll arrive at the majestic Gullfoss waterfall. Take in the sheer power of the waterfall, which crashes down over two separate tiers before plummeting into a deep canyon. If the sun is shining, you can capture brilliant photos of rainbows shimmering over the falls.

The final stop brings you to Kerið, a volcanic crater lake known for its bold color contrasts and distinctive shape. An easy walking path circles the rim, revealing views down to the calm blue water below, framed by deep red volcanic rock. The softer light later in the day adds depth to the colors and a quieter atmosphere, making Kerið a thoughtful, unhurried way to close the journey before the drive back to Reykjavík.
