2008 Dragon Boat Race Festival

Description: Weekend festival featuring 190 team dragon boat race, which evolved from Chinese Tradition over 2,400 years old. It is the largest festival of its kind in North America. This event is fun for the whole family, with a diverse assortment of entertainers, exhibitors, vendors and concessions, as well as a beer tent for adults and children’s area for the kids. Last years event saw over 65,000 visitors to the festival and was successful in raising over $230,000 for local charities. This year’s festival promises to be even bigger, with money raised going to the Ottawa Senators Foundation/Roger’s House, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Program/POGO the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, OCRI School Breakfast Program, Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, Algonquin College Foundation, Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, and the Good Day Workshop.
